2018 – The year of challenge, change and growth

I remember when I first came to Kentucky as a 16 year old  student I thought where the heck did my exchange program send me?? I wanted to go to New York or Los Angeles and definitely considered myself a city girl. Never did I think I would end up living in Kentucky. Sure, it is beautiful here but what is there to do? Little did I know then…

Moving forward

The year 2018 brought all kinds of changes for me. Many, many blessings but it started out finding myself a single mother and pregnant on top of that. I remember feeling “stuck” here. My family was far away in Germany and I faced battles only positive thinking and a lot of faith could help me through.
I have always been a happy and positive person by nature, giving into depressions wasn’t an option. I wanted to be there for my children with all I had and most of all I wanted to set a strong and courageous example.

When I got hired on with VUE Magazine as one of their photographers it changed my life in so many ways and only for the good. I got to meet some kick ass, strong and diligent women… mothers, business owners and it gave me the extra booth of self esteem I needed.
And as I started photographing events I started getting to know my community. I was amazed to see how the people here in Western Kentucky come together, put personal, political or religious differences aside and unite for great causes and events.  I fell in love with my community.

But I also realized something else, something I have been so very wrong about. Something many people – like my city folks 😉 are wrong about too:

There is plenty fun things to do in Western Kentucky!

For that very reason I have decided to write a blog about exactly that:

“Things to do in Western Kentucky”

I am dedicating this to all the people that have moved here, that have been living here all or most of their life or tourists.

Feel free to comment below on restaurants, activities or places I should write about.
